Welcome

Welcome to Scolt Head Island and it's Wildlife, this is an independent website managed by Baz Scampion an Ecologist and Naturalist who has been regularly visiting Scolt Head Island for over thirty years, and still regularly visits on almost a weekly basis. Scolt Head is a beautifully unspoilt Sand and Shingle Barrier Island National Nature Reserve on the North Norfolk coast accessed from either Burnham Overy Staithe in the East or Brancaster Staithe in the west, much of the island is in the parish of Burnham Norton.
For many years Baz has been pursuing his passion of Birding, Botonising, Boating and studying all aspects of Natural History and Ecology on the Island, and through photography trying to capture some of the special wildlife, habitats and generally the wildness and atmosphere of this beautiful and fragile coastal environment and generally getting away 'from it'!.
Over the years Baz has built up a comprehensive photographic library of images of the wildlife of this wonderful part of the North Norfolk coast. Galleries on this site include Birds, Terns, Rare Birds, Flora, Insects and Invertebrates, Landscapes, Mammals, Marine Mammals and Cetaceans, the Saltmarsh underwater aswell as local Boats and working people of the area and more.
